The Peace of a Perfect Son

And as Jesus rose up out of the water, the heavenly realm opened up over him and he saw the Holy Spirit descend out of the heavens and rest upon him in the form of a dove. Then suddenly the voice of the Father shouted from the sky, saying, "This is my Son the Beloved! My greatest delight is in him."

Our faith in Jesus transfers Gods righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. This means we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God, all because of what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, has done for us.

After Jesus was baptised by John, the Holy Spirit came down from heaven and rested upon him. Some translations say, and remained on him. Jesus went about his ministry so aware of his Fathers presence, so secure in his identity as a beloved Son. The dove never flew away; the fullness of the presence of God never left Him. Its as if the Father says to us too, You are my beloved child, I am so pleased with you. Now come to me, follow me, and you will do mighty exploits (see Daniel 11:32). The peace of God is not just any kind of peace. It is an eternal peace, one that is not dimmed by the darkness and uncertainty of this world. Just like the joy of the Lord, we cannot produce it ourselves. His peace and joy are a gift to us, and He gives it freely (see Nehemiah 8:10 and John 14:27).
