Then I saw heaven opened, and suddenly a white horse appeared. The name of the one riding it was Faithful and True, and with pure righteousness he judges and rides to battle. He wore many regal crowns, and his eyes were flashing like flames of fire. He had a secret name inscribed on him thats known only to himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title is called the Word of God. Following him on white horses were the armies of heaven, wearing white fine linen, pure and bright. A sharp sword came from his mouth with which to conquer the nations, and he will shepherd them with an iron scepter. He will trample out the wine in the winepress of the wrath of God. On his robe and on his thigh he had inscribed a name: King of kings and Lord of lords.
Revelations 19:11-16 (TPT)
This passage of scripture is a fascinating description of Jesus. It is loaded with imagery expressing Jesus as both the warrior-King and bridegroom-King. Either way, He is the King over all kings. Over all the lords and kings who ever were and still will be, He is Lord and King. He is pure righteousness, pure passion, and fiery love. The feeble picture we might have of a fairy-tale prince riding on his noble white steed pales in comparison to the reality captured here in the book of Revelation. And the rider of the white horse is Jesus, here called Faithful and True. He is Truth himself, the Word of God, the Lion of Judah, the Lamb of God, and the Fathers beloved Son. And at the same time, He is our eternal husband, the lover of our soul, the one who never takes his fiery eyes off us. Hallelujah, we are his!
